Graphic novels are the best books for dyslexic kids. My daughter wasn't really an avid reader until we discovered these. We have the original Black Beauty book but it seemed overwhelming for my daughter. Once we got the graphic novel, she had finished it in less than a week.

For my 8 year old granddaughter, who also got the movie, and the full book this Christmas. All three, and the one she goes to first , and spends the most time on, is this one.
The recommendation on this book is for readers too young to read the original book, but I think its wonderful for anyone of any age who loves this beautiful story.

Its beautifully illustrated and the graphic novel format leaves out none of the spirit or depth of the original.

A true pleasure to read.
Bought for my neice for her birthday. She's only 7 so her reading level isn't quite up to reading the original book, so this was a great compromise that she can understand and appreciate.
It is just the right kind of novel for children. Very nice story, easy to read.
This was a gift for my 9 year old niece to read during the summer.
I would recommend this to every child who doesn't feel like reading a traditional novel, turning page by page.
This graphic novel gets more attention by providing the story in the pictures.
My daughter just finished Black Beauty in her class and love it. So I decided to surprise her with this book. I was very impressed with the length and thoroughness of this version. I was expecting it to be around 50 pages and it clocks in at 170+ pages. About 150 pages are dedicated to the story and 20 pages are dedicated to story boards. That bonus was most welcome also as my daughter loves to draw and seeing the story boards shows her the process.

This graphic novel obviously doesn't contain 100% of what the book has in it but it is pretty close.
These kids are use to colorful illustrations. My daughter was not that into this one because it was black and white illustrations.
My niece does not like to read. Getting her to do her reading homework is a nightmare. She loves horses so I got her this book and she actually picked it up and started reading it without any prompting! She loves that's it's about horses and all the pictures too!
