His name is Equus who shunes brightly in his fleads of heaven green pasters. This book is amust to read it is easy to follow and the carters are well written. You can follow for the hero's and cher them on I can't help but to read again and again. I can't wait to read Piper at the gates. Thank you so much!

This book is one I read as a child and forgot about for some time. Just after Christmas I was having a few nostalgic moments and tried to remember the "Apaloosa Piper" horse book. I searched the internet until I found this book and I loved it all over again. I love the relatable characters, reminds me a bit of Watership Down, which I also loved.
I would really like to see the 2nd book to this as a e-book. Why is it not yet? It only makes sense for the second book to be an ebook as well.

The book itself is something I read ages ago and when I saw it for e-book, I immediately downloaded it. I love this book and the whole heaven/hell theme involving horses is just one of my favorites.
The sequel to 'The heavenly Horse from the Outermost West'. The formatting and storytelling is better here, and a very enjoyable read! A little difficult to find a copy, but its worth it to do so. If you like animal stories or horse fantasy novels, check this out and its sibling.
My first reaction to seeing this book's title was to wonder what the author was thinking. It didn't sound particularly inspiring. I pulled the book off its shelf at the used bookstore I found it in, and immediately regretted my first impression. The cover art suggests a story far darker and deeper than you would expect from the book's title, and a Tolkien-esque epic scale. I bought it without another thought.
Sure enough, this was no children's book. What Richard Adams did for rabbits in Watership Down, Mary Stanton does here with her horses. The antagonists are truly evil in ways most storybook villians only aspire to, and the equine mythology/religion thoroughly detailed. My only disappointment was in thinking this masterpiece was a one-shot wonder, a belief that was thankfully proven wrong by the discovery of this book's more epically titled sequel, "Piper at the Gate"
NOT for young children (say, under 13). Anor the Executioner will give them the screaming meemies, and Anor's master (the equine analog to the devil) will give them nightmares (no pun intended) for weeks. But a MUST READ for anyone over the age of 13, whether you like horses or not.
NOTE Due to the dark and supernatural nature of the storyline and antagonists, I'm tempted to catagorize this one under "anthropomorhpic/horror" instead of fantasy.

I love the description of the horses, the view points of the animals. I highly recommend this wonderful book!
I loved this book so much as a young teen that I wrote to Mary Stanton, the author, and I still have the kind letter she wrote in response. This is comparable to Richard Adams's Watership Down, and in my opinion, far superior. The story is exciting, heartwrenching and heartwarming. There are a few drawings inside the book so you get to see what the other characters actually look like. I've read and reread this book more times than I can count. This book is for anyone who loves horses, fantasy, action, love stories and animal behavior.

Cory tell him that Lili the dreamspeaker said that his mother ductess is lost in the heaven in a mist and his father the Dance is looking for her on the green road.
He takes with him Blackjack and Alaven algo with his friends to traveled into the wildness in oreder to go to the black barns in the hores that should not be name.
I love the ending is great. I love the art work in the book. It is a must book to read alonge with heavenly horse frist. Thank you so much for the great reading book.
